CELL PHONE HELL / HEAVEN

This is a letter I sent to a Mr. Dotson who Tech Support says is head of T-Mobile

Dear Mr. Dotson,
I have been a T-mobile customer for quite a while and have extended my contract at least 3 or 4 times. My Phone number is 903 XXX XXXX. I purchased a T-mobile SDA phone in Houston Texas just before Christmas. Don't get me wrong. I love this phone and it's changing the way I manage my mobile life. However, ever since I purchased the phone I have found it impossible to lock the phone / keys so that it / they do not respond to pressure caused by the factory belt holster.
I have spent at least 5 to 10 hours per week for 4 or 5 weeks with technical support trying to resolve this problem.
I have tried locking the phone in several ways - 1) intermittent press of the power button allows locking the keys (option 4) or locking the device (option 5), 2) Start -> Settings -> Security (option 7) -> enable phone lock then entering a password and finally 3) depressing the red phone button for 2 seconds.
My home screen time out is set to 10 seconds which is the shortest period available. Wi-Fi is turned off - I have never used it. Backlight time out on battery is set to 10 seconds. Display timeout is set to 1 minute and the light sensor is enabled.
I do not use MSN Messenger and I do not receive text messages. I only active sync using the factory cable. So, I presume, those features are not turning on the phone.
My problem is that the phone or the factory case causes the phone to attempt to unlock itself. The case causes a never ending string of asterisks to be entered into the password text box. Many times I have reached to use my phone to find the battery dead, warm or HOT! On one occasion, the phone was almost too hot to hold!
I have unsuccessfully tried to place silicone bumpers inside the case to try to prevent the case from contacting the keys. I have even considered having a jeweler grind down the keys flush with the face of the phone so that positive depression of the recessed key would be required to activate the button.
Once again, Robert, I love this phone, I love the service you provide and I want to remain a customer using this SDA phone or the replacement that your company sent me 3 days ago. Unfortunately, I feel that the SDA with it’s current firmware has this one fatal and possibly humanly fatal problem.
Sincerely yours,
Bob
PS After 10 hours last night I found and installed the Key Lock program from Surreal Networks. So far so good with that program. I'm afraid however, that the holster will depress the one key that initiates the unlock sequence - the key at the bottom left of the screen
